On Tuesday at Camp Wonder, a group of boys with very serious skin conditions were told that they would be going to the A’s baseball game and to meet at front at 5:00 p.m. When they showed up at the appointed time, there were two NASCAR decorated limos waiting to take them to the Oakland Coliseum. Inside the limos were bottles of soda and water to quench their thirst. For entertainment during the ride, there was a stereo, two televisions and a Play Station 2.

When they got to the ballpark, the boys were escorted to a luxury suite where they watched the game in style eating hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, cotton candy and pizza. The boys will never forget this evening thanks to the generosity of a drug company who cared.

Blessed are the weak.

Acts 20:35 …we must help the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus himself said: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

Note: Camp Wonder in Livermore is sponsored by the Children’s Skin Disease Foundation. The one week camp is for children aged 7-16 years old with serious and fatal skin diseases. They have skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, epidermolysis bullosa, pemphigus, ichthyosis, alopecia, and vitiligo. When you first see these campers, you know they have a skin condition, they look different. Many people are turned off by the children’s appearance, which may lead them to look down on the children and stay away from them.
