I have two e-mail accounts. I rarely look at the second one. I looked at it the other day and discovered that I had some things to do that I didn't know about. One was this article I was to write for the Corps’ website. Fortunately I read it in time for this first article.

Has that ever happened to you? You get so busy and occupied that you just don't check your e-mail? You have a minor heart attack as you read something you are suppose to do and the deadline is quickly approaching or worst yet, has already past.

How would you feel if you were supposed to respond to an e-vite for a special party of a close friend, but you missed the date and never went?

I started to realize that is what happens to my life when I don't read the messages God has for me in His word. I would miss deadlines to help or encourage someone. I would miss celebrations when others don't come to the Lord because I didn't know what to say or do. I would miss God telling me how He loves me despite my faults and imperfections. I would miss messages that God wants the best for me. I would miss important instructions God wants to tell me to prepare for the upcoming day. I would miss how God wants to protect me from the evils that lie ahead.

Ephesians 6:13 says, "Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground..." (NIV)

So open up that bible and read the messages God has in store for you to protect and guide you.
