I was impatient and frustrated, rushing to put Brandon, four years old, to bed. He was nervous, anxious, and unsettled because he was scared of what might be in the dark ceiling corners. “Oh, Brandon. That’s just your imagination. Nothing is really there.”
“Oh!” he exclaimed, staring at me with wide, imploring eyes, “I wish God would make you four years old again so you would know how I feel!”
Out of the mouths of babes. How many times are we abrupt, rash, impatient, judgmental and critical of another’s situation and actions, only because we do not put ourselves in their shoes to know how they feel? Allow God’s spirit, who is so compassionate of our own fears and struggles, to encourage others through your words, thought and action.
“May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other—each with the attitude of Christ Jesus toward the other.” Romans 15:5 (NLT)
