Christopher, five years old, and I were in the car driving somewhere in Oceanside, California. He was chattering away, asking me a technical question about the new Ghostbusters gun he just got from his grandfather. “I don’t know, honey,” I said to him.

Undaunted, he answered, “I’ll ask Daddy.  He knows everything.”

Wanting to teach my child that his father was not God, I ventured, “Well, Daddy knows a lot. But there’s only one person who knows everything. Who’s that?”

“God,” he answered automatically.

“Right,” I said smugly, rather satisfied and reflecting on the wisdom I just imparted to my son.  Then he interrupted my thoughts, “Yes, but God gives some of his knowing to Daddy.”

Out of the mouths of babes.

God does give us some of “His knowing.”  He leaves it up to us whether to follow His knowing or not. Am I following “His knowing” today?

“… wisdom is shown to be right by the lives of those who follow it."   Luke 7:35 (NLT)
